Tau Hammerhead Redo

I wasn’t really enthused about the way my Hammerhead was turning out.  It seemed just a little too plain, and I didn’t really know how to spice it up, so I took a look through the codex for some inspiration.  In there I found a sample camouflage pattern that I thought would go well.  The pattern in the book was the same red and gray scheme that I had been working with.  Well, started painting it last night and I think it is coming along quite nicely.  The lines could be a little cleaner, and I’m thinking of getting an airbrush to try and make things go a little easier.  Anyway, here’s the picture of the progress so far, sorry about the quality of the picture, I am in the Twin Cities for work and the only camera I have is my phone.

      Thanks!

I’m definitely liking the way it is turning out. Much more interesting than before.

That looks great. It reminds me of clawmarks scratched over the tank. Any reason you “stopped” and didn’t add one more “scratch” further ahead on the tank?

Btw, Twin Cities. Which Twin Cities might that be? I happen to be in a Twin City area:)

      Thanks.

I just ran out of time, and this was just kind of a test to see how I liked it. I have done some more stripes and I will have to try and get another pic uploaded soon.

As for where I am, I’m in Minneapolis. I’m leaving tomorrow, but I will likely be back again in a few weeks.

That is a really slick camo pattern. I like it!

Are you just freehanding it, or are you masking off areas to keep the lines so clean?

I am free handing it so far. I’m definitely going to try and do a mask to make life a little easier on future tanks.
